Single Session Online Therapy - Targeted Help for One Specific Issue
Not every difficulty needs months of weekly sessions. Sometimes there is one concrete thing, something coming up, something you have been avoiding, something that stops you in a way that feels completely out of proportion to the actual situation.
This is focused, targeted online therapy. Usually one to three sessions. No long-term commitment. We go directly to what is in the way and work on it specifically.
Available online worldwide - UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia and beyond - and in person in Crossmaglen, Northern Ireland.
Online therapy for phobias, performance anxiety, procrastination and more
This type of focused single session therapy works well for specific, identifiable issues. You may recognise yourself in one of these:
Exam nerves or test anxiety that feel overwhelming and out of control
Performance anxiety before a presentation, interview, driving test or audition
A phobia, such as flying, needles, social situations, specific animals, that limits what you can do
Procrastination around one specific task that you cannot seem to start or finish
Avoiding a phone call, email or conversation you know you need to have
Knowing what decision to make but being unable to make yourself make it
Repetitive looping thoughts about one situation you cannot get out of
Feeling emotionally hijacked after an argument or interaction and unable to shake it
Carrying shame or embarrassment about a specific event that is affecting how you show up
These are not character flaws or signs of weakness. They are specific learned responses, and specific responses can be changed specifically.
How focused single session therapy works differently from traditional therapy
Traditional talk therapy focuses on understanding, exploring where patterns come from, building insight over time. That has real value. But it is not always what’s needed.
When the issue is specific and identifiable, a different kind of work is possible. Rather than talking around the issue, this approach works directly with the response itself, the freeze, the loop, the avoidance, the overwhelming physical feeling - at the level where it actually lives.
Most people who come for focused single session therapy notice a real difference within one to three sessions. Some issues, such as performance nerves, a specific phobia, a single looping thought, usually shift in one session. Others, particularly long-standing avoidance patterns, may take two or three sessions.
I will be straightforward with you at the outset about what is realistic for your specific situation.
What to expect from your online therapy session
Sessions take place via Zoom or Whatsapp video call and are accessible from anywhere in the world - the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, or wherever you are based.
In person sessions are available in Crossmaglen, Northern Ireland.
We begin by getting a clear picture of exactly what is happening, not just what the issue is, but how it works for you specifically. Where do you feel it in your body? What triggers it? What does it stop you doing?
From there the work is active and purposeful. You will not be doing most of the talking. Most clients find the session feels quite different from what they expected, practical, focused, and often surprisingly straightforward.
Sessions are usually 45 - 55 minutes.

Is focused single session therapy right for you?
This approach works best when you have one specific thing you want to change. It is not designed for open-ended support, ongoing processing, or complex long-term patterns, if that is what you are looking for, one of the longer programmes may suit you better.
If you have one concrete issue and you are ready to work on it directly, this is likely a good fit.
If you are unsure, the free consultation is the right place to start. Tell me what is going on and I will give you an honest view of whether this kind of focused therapy is likely to help, and roughly how many sessions it might take.
