I am often asked “Is it possible to overcome a phobia?” And my answer is always “Yes”, and it can be surprisingly quick and easy to do so.

A phobia is an intense, irrational fear of a specific thing, object, a situation or an activity that triggers anxiety or fear symptoms even though there is little or no actual danger. This fear response comes from your subconscious mind and is often completely beyond your control. Because it comes from your subconscious, rather than your conscious logical mind, you cannot control this fear with rational logical arguments or positive affirmation’s. Whether it’s a fear of holes, flying, spiders, or needles, these phobias can trigger such severe anxiety symptoms that they severely restrict your day to day life. Traditional methods of addressing phobias include gradual exposure therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy or psychotherapy, all of which can be time-consuming and emotionally demanding.

Types of Phobias

There are many different types of phobias and with many different root causes. But every phobia has one thing in common, they are all rooted in the subconscious mind, and this is where NLP (neuro linguistic programming) can be highly effective in treating any kind of phobia.
